Custom Silicon Wafer Specifications
We can supply undoped silicon, boron-doped P-type silicon, and phosphorus-, arsenic-, or antimony-doped N-type silicon wafers in diameters from 25 mm to 300 mm, with <100>, <110>, and <111> crystal orientations, single- or double-side polishing, and custom resistivity ranges for research and production applications.
What Types of Silicon Wafers Are Available?
UniversityWafer supplies a wide selection of silicon (Si) wafers for semiconductor manufacturing, MEMS, photonics, power electronics, sensors, and university research. The three most common silicon substrate types are undoped, P-type, and N-type silicon wafers, each designed for specific electrical and device requirements.
Undoped Silicon Wafers
Undoped (intrinsic) silicon wafers contain extremely low levels of impurities, making them ideal for high-resistivity applications, photonics, detectors, MEMS fabrication, and university research. Float Zone (FZ) undoped silicon is especially popular because of its very high purity and resistivities exceeding 20,000 Ω-cm.
P-Type Silicon Wafers
P-type silicon wafers are typically doped with boron (B), producing positive charge carriers (holes). These wafers are widely used for integrated circuits, solar cells, MEMS devices, CMOS technology, and general semiconductor fabrication. P-type silicon is one of the most commonly requested substrate types for research and production.
N-Type Silicon Wafers
N-type silicon wafers are commonly doped with phosphorus (P), arsenic (As), or antimony (Sb), creating free electrons as the primary charge carriers. N-type silicon offers excellent electron mobility and is frequently used for power devices, RF electronics, photodetectors, sensors, and advanced semiconductor technologies.
